On the Vagabond Highway

It’s been quite awhile since I have blogged. I’ve had a couple of other blogs in the last few years, but I always end up burning out after awhile. I have no reason to believe that this time will be any different. I also don’t have the time or the desire to be a prolific blogger. That being said I have decided to start up another blog and if I burn out, then thats fine. I still check my old blogs from time to time and alway appreciate good discussion. For the most part my last two blogs focused primarily on Christian spirituality. I shared some of my thoughts, doubts, struggles and frustration as I searched for what it meant to follow Christ in 21st century America. This blog will follow my journey as I seek to move beyond religion and search for an organic and authentic spirituality that I can call my own.
The following lines from the first verse of The Tao Te Ching really express where I am at at this moment.

“The Tao that can be told is not the Eternal Tao

The name that can be named is not the Eternal Name“

I would paraphrase this verse…

“God is bigger than any religion, and any religion that claims to have God pinned down and trapped in their little box is decieving themselves, and is a stumbling block to those whoe really want to seek God“
